The poured body polymerized polymethyl methacrylate sheet (such as aviation plexiglass sheet) has higher mechanical properties such as tensile, bending, and compression. It can reach the level of engineering plastics such as polyamide and polycarbonate.

Polymethyl methacrylate can resist diluting inorganic acids, but concentrated inorganic acids can make it eroded and resistant to alkalis. Still, warm sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide can make it corrosive, resistant to salts and greases, resistant to aliphatic hydrocarbons, insoluble in water, methanol, glycerol, etc., but can absorb alcohol swelling, and produce stress cracking, not resistant to ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and aromatic hydrocarbons.

Polymethyl methacrylate has excellent atmospheric aging resistance. Its specimen has undergone four years of natural aging tests, weight change, tensile strength, light transmittance slightly reduced, color slightly yellowed, silver grain resistance decreased significantly, impact strength was slightly improved, and other physical properties almost unchanged.
