What is Aerogel Powder?Aerogel, also known as a wet gel or hydrogel, is a porous material that can be made by replacing the liquid within the gel with air. Aerogel KNFW silica is a material that has low density, low thermal conduction, a large surface area, and a high level of adsorption. This aerogel is produced by atmospheric pressure drying. High purity and surface activity have been used to produce building insulations, industrial insulations, polymer material, aerospace and everyday chemical industries.

Characteristics and uses of aerogel powder
Aerogel has a light, translucent blue color and is very light. People also call it solid smoke. Stephen Jones, material scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is the man who developed this new aerogel. Its main components are glass and silicon dioxide, but since it contains 99.8% of air, its density only equals one-thousandth that of glass. Aerogel is a very strong material that appears "weak". It will not melt until it reaches temperatures of 1200°C. Aerogel's thermal conductivity is also low and its refractive indices are very low. In addition, it has a 39-fold higher insulation capacity than glass fiber. These characteristics have made aerogel an indispensable material for space exploration. The Russian "Peace", space station, and the American Mars Pathfinder probe use aerogel for thermal insulation.

Function of Aerogel Powder
In the research on fractal structure. The scale size affects the apparent density of silicon nanogel as a controllable, nanoporous structure. In a particular scale range, its apparent density has scale invariance, that is, it has a selfsimilar structure and decreases with increasing scale. In the study on the dynamics of aerogel structure, it is also shown that the three excitation areas have significantly different dispersion relation in different scales. They correspond to the excitations for phonons, fractals, and particle modes, respectively. Aerogels can be prepared in a way that changes the correlation length up to two orders of size. The best materials to study fractal structures, and their dynamic behavior, are silicon aerogels.
