Tantalum Boride Powder
Tantalum boride or tantalum diboride is a powdery gray color. The Tantalum diboride has a pH of and is insoluble in nitric, hydrofluoric or acidic solutions. Slightly soluble with hot hydrofluoric or sulfuric acids. Solvent in sodium carbonate and molten alkali. Crystal and TaB2 films have a Vickers Hardness around 30 GPa. These materials are resistant to acid corrosion and oxidation up to 700degC.
TaB2 shares the same hexagonal shape as most diborides. (Alb 2, MGB2,etc.). It also has space groups such as TAB (orthogonal, crystal system, iodized Cmcm), MGB2, TA5B6(Cmmm), and TA3B4(IMmm).

What is the production process of Tantalum Boride Powder ?
Under vacuum or cylinder-gas protection, either the carbon and oxidizing loads and boron oxide mixture is prepared, or the powder is prepared through reaction with the element Boron.
The floating zone method allows for the production of single crystals (about 1cm in diameter and about 6cm in length) of Tab2.
At temperatures over 600degC, TAB (single-phase), a mixture of Tacl-5-Bcl3 and H-2-Ar can be used to deposit a tantalum boride film.
Tab2 nanocrystals can be synthesized successfully by reducing NaBH4 to Ta2O5 with a molecular ratio of 1:14 M:B under argon at 700-900degC.
