5A molecularsieve is calcium A-type silicon aluminate. A molecular sieve 5A can absorb molecules with critical diameters not greater than 5A. Any molecular molecules which can be adsorbed using 3A and 4A molecularsieves can be adsorbed via 5A type.

5A molecularsieve is calcium A-type silicon aluminate. A molecular sieve 5A can absorb molecules whose critical size is less than 5A. Any molecular molecules which can be adsorbed using 3A and 4A molecularsieves can also be adsorbed via 5A. By selective adsorption, righteous alkanes are separated from branched and cyclic hydrocarbons. It's currently being used to industrially separate large amounts of normal isomericalkane. 5A molecular sieve may also be used to produce pressure swing-adsorption hydrogen.
