How does Lithium Stearate get made?

Method 1

10g of Stearic Acid was dispersed in 100mL 95% Ethanol. Next, it was titrated using 0.5mol/L Lithium Hydroxide ethanol solution. Phenolphthalein was used to indicate. Once the reaction had reached equilibrium, the precipitated lithiumstearate soap was removed and filtered. You can make the pure product from the crude product by adding 95% of ethanol.

Method 2

In order to dissolve sodium chloride in water to make a solution, add stearic acid to the mixture and heat to over 100. Liquidize lithium chloride in water. Cool it down to room temperature. Add it to the sodium-stearate solution. The reaction will be complete when it's stopped. Get the final product by drying it with air drying equipment.


Lithium Stearate: Use lithium stearate as a PVC heat stabiliser for transparent products. When combined with phthalate plastizer, it does not produce white fog. Because lithium stearate is more readily melted in ketones than any other stearates it will have less impact on embossing operations.
It is safe to use non-toxic barium soap or lead soap as a substitute. The product is also compatible with a Phosphoric Acid Plasticizer. You can use the product as an external oil lubricant (maximum of 0.6%) for nylon, rigid polyvinylchide, and phenolic resin. Additionally, it can be used to build waterproof and impermeable structures. It is used to make lithium stearate oil.
